Chinese company Unitree, a leader in humanoid robot manufacturing, has unveiled its new high-speed robot, dubbed "Superman." This announcement comes just days before the company's shares are set to begin trading on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, following an initial public

offering (IPO) that saw exceptional demand, with subscriptions exceeding available shares by over 8,000 times. The "Superman" robot boasts impressive locomotion capabilities, including the ability to perform a vertical jump from a standing position, reaching up to two meters. It can

also achieve a maximum speed of 12.66 meters per second, equivalent to approximately 45.6 kilometers per hour. Unitree indicated that the robot's development took just over three months, reflecting its rapid pace in innovating advanced generations of humanoid robots. Unitree's shares

are scheduled to commence trading on the STAR market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange on August 19. The company successfully raised approximately 6.1 billion yuan (905 million US dollars) from its IPO. The offering price was set at 150.80 yuan

per share (22.37 dollars), valuing the company at around 61 billion yuan (9 billion dollars). Unitree is considered one of China's prominent companies in the humanoid robot sector, having delivered approximately 18,000 bipedal robots of various models by July 2026. Its

product portfolio is not limited to human-like robots; the company is also renowned for developing quadrupedal robots. Its future strategy primarily focuses on robots capable of movement and interaction with their environment. Unitree's ambitions were recently bolstered by a strategic partnership

with Chinese AI company DeepSeek, which invested around 140.8 million yuan (20.8 million dollars) in the public offering. The significant interest in Unitree's stock reflects growing expectations for the future of humanoid robots in China. However, analysts caution that the

company's high valuation may carry risks, especially since widespread commercial application of these robots is still in its early stages. Despite these warnings, Unitree's market debut marks a significant milestone for Chinese industry, as it is among the few leading

humanoid robot companies transitioning from technical development to public financial markets.
