Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has issued directives to organize periodic campaigns for issuing and renewing passports in Washington. This initiative aims to facilitate consular procedures, provide optimal services to Iraqi citizens residing in the eastern states of the United
States, and alleviate the burdens they face. These directives came during his visit on Monday to the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington D.C., where he toured the embassy building and the Consular Section. He met with staff and
reviewed operations, as well as efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and follow up on joint files. Hussein emphasized the importance of elevating diplomatic performance in line with the Iraqi government's orientations and the Foreign Ministry's priorities for an open foreign
policy based on mutual respect and shared interests, aimed at developing relations and expanding cooperation. The Minister also reviewed the economic challenges confronting Iraq and the wider region, particularly the repercussions of conflicts and their impact on trade conditions, and the
effects of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on energy supplies. In the consular aspect, he was briefed on work procedures and the level of services provided, stressing the necessity of continuously developing consular performance, updating work mechanisms, finding
solutions to facilitate citizens' transactions, meeting their needs, and enhancing communication with them to follow up on their affairs.
