Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the US Presidential Envoy for Iraq and Syria, Ambassador Tom Barrack, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Istanbul, Turkey, where they discussed developments related to the exchange rate. The two sides reviewed bilateral
relations between the Republic of Iraq and the United States of America during the current phase, in light of the conclusion of the international coalition forces' mission in Iraq, alongside prospects for bilateral cooperation in the coming period. The meeting
also addressed regional developments, ongoing conflicts and their repercussions on security and stability in Iraq and the region, in addition to discussing the financial and economic situation in Iraq and updates regarding the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar. At
the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continued communication, consultation, and holding joint meetings to enhance bilateral relations and exchange views on issues of common interest.
