The General Company for Iraqi Airways launched on Thursday its first flight from Najaf Ashraf International Airport to Tehran Airport, officially announcing the resumption of air traffic toward the Islamic Republic of Iran. The current operational plan includes organizing regular
daily routes connecting Najaf Ashraf International Airport with several major destinations inside Iranian territory, including Tehran, Mashhad, and Isfahan. The management stated that this step was achieved thanks to governmental efforts and the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, following
the completion of all necessary technical and regulatory requirements to ensure safe operations. This return aims to facilitate passenger movement and expand Iraq's regional transport network, particularly to serve religious, medical, and academic travel needs. It is noteworthy that flight
operations between the two sides had been suspended since last March.
