Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the National State Powers Alliance, affirmed that Iraq has overcome the stage of political deadlock and successfully formed a government. This statement came during his reception, on Thursday, of Joshua Harris, the Chargé d'Affaires at the
United States Embassy in Iraq, at his office in Baghdad. During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington and reviewed developments in the political scene in Iraq and the region. Al-Hakim emphasized that the formation of
the Iraqi government was completed in accordance with constitutional entitlements after a period of political stagnation. Al-Hakim also praised the steps taken to confine weapons to the state, describing them as a constitutional and legal fact stipulated by the constitution and
the Popular Mobilization Forces law, and demanded by the Supreme Religious Authority on several occasions. The leader of the National State Powers Alliance reiterated his call to halt ongoing conflicts in the region, stressing the necessity of reaching radical and just
solutions that restore stability, prevent escalation, and safeguard the interests of all concerned parties. The meeting also addressed the current challenges facing Iraq, primarily the economic challenge. Both sides affirmed the importance of serious work to diversify sources of income and
transition from a rentier state model, in addition to diversifying oil export outlets in the foreseeable future.
