The Independent High Electoral Commission has revealed plans to hold provincial council elections during the year 2027, alongside intensive institutional preparations. The Parliamentary Finance Committee, headed by MP Uday Awad and in the presence of its members, held an extensive
meeting hosting commission leaders to discuss ways to provide the necessary financial and technical support, as well as reviewing arrangements related to the federal budget allocated for this vital file. The committee head opened the meeting by welcoming the visiting
delegation, emphasizing the need to support national efforts to ensure the electoral body's readiness for upcoming events. The meeting included a detailed presentation by the judge members of the commission regarding urgent requirements and the possibility of financial reallocations within
the budget to meet operational needs. Discussions also touched upon core files including amending legislation governing the body's work, mechanisms for adopting the unified card in voting, and examining technical solutions to address the expansion in the number of polling
stations and devices resulting from the inclusion of new age groups in voter lists. In a related context, the commission provided clarifications regarding the issuance of electoral cards and the distinction between the unified card and the biometric card for
official adoption in future democratic practices.
