Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi issued a directive on Wednesday for all government institutions to prepare for the celebration of Iraqi Sovereignty Day on October 1, 2026. The directive, conveyed by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, urged ministries,
non-affiliated entities, and governorates to implement necessary measures, coordinating with the Government Media Cell, regarding these points: Firstly: Organizing a commemorative gathering in government and public institutions to honor Iraq's martyrs and victims, as part of the Sovereignty Day celebrations. Secondly: Wearing
a chest badge symbolizing National Sovereignty Day, potentially featuring Iraq's map or its colors, or any other suitable design. Thirdly: All governorates should promote official and popular Sovereignty Day celebrations through their local departments and institutions. Fourthly: Directing relevant authorities to take
suitable actions for the occasion through public programs and activities. This governmental directive comes in anticipation of Iraqi Sovereignty Day, scheduled for October 1, 2026.
