World Bank President Ajay Banga announced on Sunday that the institution is actively engaging in discussions with 30 to 40 nations, aiming to deliver financial backing amid energy constraints and inflationary pressures triggered by the Iran war. Speaking to Western
media, Banga highlighted an initial crisis fund of 25 billion dollars, alongside an additional 35 billion dollars that could be unlocked by reallocating resources from approved ventures. He cautioned that escalating burdens linked to diesel and fertilizer prices might push
more governments to seek aid in forthcoming months. Furthermore, Banga indicated the total allocation could reach 100 billion dollars should conditions worsen, surpassing the 70 billion dollars distributed during COVID-19.
