The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, announced on Wednesday the launch of an Iraqi initiative aimed at mediating between warring countries to ease regional tensions. This was stated during a press conference held with the governor
of Karbala during his visit to the province. Al-Hakim highlighted that Karbala represents a successful model in service provision and reconstruction, emphasizing that everyone works as one team to serve the province, which welcomes millions of visitors and neighbors the
shrine of the Master of Martyrs. During the meeting, al-Hakim discussed with local officials the current regional developments that could lead to war, in addition to the economic challenges facing the country, including financial issues, farmers' dues, ethical concerns, drug
problems, and literacy eradication projects. He expressed hope that Karbala remains as lofty as the Master of Martyrs, stressing the importance of the Ministry of Electricity considering the millions of visitors and the actual population of the province when allocating
its share of electricity, rather than relying solely on official population records. He also pointed out that the federal budget does not include a provision for the visitor dollar project similar to the petro-dollar project, affirming that provinces that complete
projects with their own capabilities should be rewarded by the federal government to encourage other provinces to follow Karbala's example in serving their citizens. He concluded by referring to the Iraqi project aimed at mediating between the warring Gulf countries
and reducing regional tensions, which will have a positive impact on Iraq.
