The President of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, Judge Faiq Zidan, confirmed on Monday the Council's endeavor to continue performing its duties with independence and professionalism. A statement from the Presidency of the Republic, received by (Al-Rabiaa), mentioned that "President Nazar Amidi met with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zidan, to discuss general conditions in the country and emphasize the importance of maintaining judicial independence and the rule of law." The President noted "the Presidency's keenness to support the judiciary and enable it to perform its constitutional duties, consolidating justice and protecting citizens' rights." For his part, Judge Zidan emphasized "the Council's effort to continue its tasks independently and professionally to serve justice."
