Iraq's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday welcomed the Japanese government's decision to lower its travel advisory level for nine Iraqi provinces. In a statement issued by the ministry, it expressed appreciation for the Japanese move, which reduced the advisory to
Level 3. This level permits travel and residency for essential cases linked to reconstruction and development efforts in the designated provinces. These include Babylon, Karbala, Najaf, Diwaniyah, Qadisiyah, Basra, Muthanna, Dhi Qar, and Maysan. The Foreign Ministry viewed this development as
a positive step in the trajectory of Iraqi-Japanese bilateral relations, particularly across economic, investment, development, and cultural dimensions. It noted that the decision reflects Japan's acknowledgement of the stable security and field developments in Iraq, as well as the ongoing
efforts to create an attractive environment for fostering the movement of delegations, companies, and investments, in addition to expanding the scope of international cooperation. The ministry affirmed its commitment to continue engaging with friendly and partner nations, and to diligently work
towards reviewing and updating travel assessments and related advisories, in an endeavor to enhance Iraq's international openness.
