The New York Times, citing a former Iranian official, revealed that Tehran informed the United States of its readiness for wide-ranging war and confrontation, in response to threats from then-U.S. President Donald Trump. According to the official, Tehran observed a
recurring pattern in Trump's attempts to shape negotiations, involving pressures and threats with every message, aimed at extracting concessions. He affirmed that Iran "is not a party easily manipulated." The Iranian side rejected returning to negotiations unless Washington reverted to
the previously agreed memorandum of understanding. He further indicated Tehran's preparation for another phase of war in the coming weeks.
