Home Global Iran Reveals Intent to Strike Israel and Halt Negotiations Following Dahiyeh Attack

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed Tehran's intention to launch strikes against Israel and halt negotiations with Washington, following the recent attack on Beirut's southern Dahiyeh suburb. Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, stated that negotiations ceased immediately

after the Israeli attack on the Lebanese capital's southern suburb. He added: "I announced that we would strike the entity tonight, and if it responded, we would strike the entire region." Baghaei noted this threat resulted in the blockade being lifted

that same night, despite understandings stipulating its opening after thirty days. In another context, Baghaei recalled a prior incident involving a tweet by then-U.S. President Donald Trump, which claimed the blockade and Strait of Hormuz would open simultaneously. Baghaei stated he

then announced an attack would occur if the false claim about the Strait of Hormuz was not corrected, forcing Trump to modify his post. Baghaei described this negotiation approach as a "struggle." In a post on the "X" platform, Baghaei affirmed

that U.S. foreign policy towards Iran and the region has become "detached from reality" and relies excessively on "lies." Baghaei used a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel "The Brothers Karamazov" to describe the American situation: "The man who lies to himself

and believes his own lies ends up unable to distinguish the truth within him or around him, and thus loses all respect for himself and for others."
