Iraq's Minister of Finance, Faleh Al-Sari, on Sunday met with Katerina Björlin Hansen, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Iraq, to discuss prospects for financial and technical cooperation and ways to support development priorities in
the country. During the meeting, the Minister affirmed the Iraqi government's commitment to enhancing the efficiency of public finance management and directing it towards supporting productive and developmental sectors. This approach aligns with the priorities of the government program and boosts
the developmental impact in the governorates, despite economic challenges arising from regional changes and pressures on public revenues. Al-Sari clarified that the Ministry prioritizes supporting developmental projects in the governorates, particularly agricultural and infrastructure projects. This is achieved through providing necessary
facilities and fostering an environment conducive to investment and production, with the aim of bolstering economic development and improving service quality. For her part, the EBRD President reiterated the Bank's ongoing support for Iraq's efforts to advance its economic and financial
landscape, highlighting the Bank's specialized programs in energy, water, banking support, and private sector financing.
