On Thursday, the Iraqi Embassy in Tripoli concluded the voluntary repatriation of 11 Iraqi nationals, as their flight departed Mitiga International Airport bound for Erbil Airport via Turkey, according to Iraq’s Chargé d'Affaires Ahmed Al-Sahhaf. This latest flight brings the
total number of repatriated citizens to 402 migrants over the two years following the reopening of the diplomatic mission in the Libyan capital. Al-Sahhaf explained that the embassy provides consular, humanitarian, medical, and service assistance, coordinated jointly with Iraqi national
ministries and authorities, as well as the Ministry of Interior and Department of Foreign Relations in the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, Al-Sahhaf commended the exceptional cooperation of Libyan security agencies in Tripoli, particularly the Illegal Migration Directorate in Tajoura, east of
the capital, in facilitating voluntary returns. Meanwhile, the diplomat reiterated his warnings to young people and their families against dealing with human smuggling and trafficking rings, cautioning against the severe perils in Libya, including drowning, disappearance, and unknown fates.
