The Iraqi Al-Asas Coalition expressed, in a statement issued on Friday, its full support for the paths and policies adopted by the executive authority to prevent any shocks to the country's financial structure, considering these moves an emergency and necessary
measure to limit the impacts of currency speculation networks and mafia groups. The statement clarified that the decision to adjust the exchange rate did not stem from luxury, but rather came as a milder option and the least harmful to
citizens compared to other alternatives that would have caused severe damage to various social segments, starting with public sector employees, retirees, and social welfare beneficiaries, all the way to the dues of farmers, contractors, and all societal sectors. The coalition
called on all national parties and blocs to solidarity and stand by the government in this delicate circumstance to overcome the current economic crisis, which has been exacerbated by several factors including the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz
and the halt of oil exports. The statement also urged all political forces to support the Prime Minister in his serious steps aimed at establishing the Generations Fund to finance developmental projects, as well as prosecuting the corrupt and currency
speculators and recovering looted funds, ensuring the continued disbursement of salaries and necessary operational expenditures, and guaranteeing the delivery of food rations to those who deserve them, while emphasizing the importance of imposing strict and effective market oversight to reduce
the potential repercussions of the exchange rate change on citizens' purchasing power.
