The head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zidan, held a meeting on Monday with the new US Chargé d'Affaires to Iraq, Steven Fagin, to discuss the judiciary's role in supporting government efforts aimed at implementing the program for
monopolizing arms by the state. This discussion took place within the context of a comprehensive plan adopted by the Coordination Framework. A statement issued by the Supreme Judicial Council clarified that the talks addressed the details of the Coordination Framework's adopted
plan regarding arms control, which includes the formation of a specialized committee to prepare and announce it at the appropriate time upon its completion. This approach aims to strengthen Iraq's commitment to its positive relations with the international community, in
addition to ensuring the full implementation of constitutional principles and legal provisions.
