Recent reports indicate that Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vessels diverted six ships today, Sunday, from the Omani maritime corridor in the vital Strait of Hormuz. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges and complexities facing navigation in the strait, despite

the announced US-Iranian agreement in mid-June. The region witnessed several vessels, including oil tankers and cargo ships, reversing their original course while attempting to exit the Gulf via the Omani side. Subsequently, some of these ships opted to pass through a

route closer to Iranian coasts. These actions are interpreted as an attempt by Tehran to impose its own vision on navigation rules within the strait, where it insists on adherence to routes it specifies, while the United States supports the

free passage of vessels along the Omani coast. In a related development, Qatar announced today, Sunday, the full and immediate resumption of maritime navigation, following its complete suspension on June 29. Shipping data shows that the movement of Qatari-linked liquefied natural

gas (LNG) tankers through the Strait of Hormuz has gradually begun to resume after a brief halt of approximately one week. This step reflects Doha's urgent desire to quickly restore its exports from the Ras Laffan facility, which is the

world's largest center for LNG exports.
