The United States, in cooperation with Qatar, is working on an initiative aimed at releasing six billion dollars in frozen Iranian funds, to be used for humanitarian needs. This step is considered an incentive for Tehran to reach a final
settlement agreement with Washington. According to the initiative's details, these funds, currently held in Qatar, are expected to be used for purchasing food, medicine, and covering other urgent humanitarian requirements. Observers suggest that this plan could pave the way for future
concessions concerning other frozen Iranian assets. However, Iran has not yet expressed its approval of the proposed release mechanism. This development comes in the context of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) remotely signed by Iran and the United States on June
18, aiming to end a military dispute that began on February 28. The MOU specifies a timeframe for the US to lift its naval blockade and for Iran to resume navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Furthermore, Iran commits under
the MOU not to possess nuclear weapons, with an emphasis that its nuclear program file will be settled by a separate agreement. Both parties are obligated to conduct negotiations regarding this within 60 days.
