Marat Berdyev, Special Envoy of the Russian Foreign Ministry for G20 and APEC affairs, affirmed on Saturday that Russia will not allow the United States to dominate the global energy sector, emphasizing that it will confront these attempts in cooperation
with its partners within the group. In statements to the international news agency Sputnik, Berdyev clarified that Washington is practically seeking to dominate energy instead of ensuring its abundance for everyone. He added that Russia and its allies from the "global
majority" cannot permit this, and will counter these "new colonial ambitions" using the tools available in relevant G20 documents. He also pointed out that the US presidency of the G20 had announced its desire to achieve energy abundance, but Washington's current
policies do not align with this orientation so far.
