Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, affirmed today, Wednesday, that any party proven to be involved in the attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be subject to strict legal accountability. This statement came during Maliki's
reception of the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, at his office today. The two sides discussed the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the region, in addition to ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two
countries to serve common interests. In a related context, Maliki emphasized Iraq's keenness to establish good and balanced relations with all countries, stressing the necessity of respecting their sovereignty and security. He reiterated Iraq's absolute rejection of any practices that could
compromise the security of neighboring countries or harm Iraq's regional and international relations. Maliki addressed recent security developments, clarifying that the investigative committee formed by the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, to verify the attack
targeting Saudi Arabia, is currently continuing its work, awaiting its findings. He also explained that the government has already begun holding negligent security leaders and officials accountable, reaffirming that any party proven involved in these attacks will face legal accountability
according to the law, regardless of the entity behind them. He further stressed that the handling of security files must be within the framework of the state and the law, in a manner that preserves the state's prestige and simultaneously prevents
slipping into confrontation or internal war between the government and factions. He emphasized that maintaining internal stability represents a paramount national priority that cannot be relinquished. Maliki confirmed the existence of a collective will and determination among all parties to move
forward in concluding this file, ensuring that weapons are exclusively held by the state. He indicated that achieving this goal requires dialogue, understandings, and guarantees that safeguard Iraq's security and long-term stability. He noted a positive response from faction leaders to
the committee formed by the Coordination Framework, and stressed the importance of soon reaching a comprehensive and balanced vision to address this sensitive file. Maliki pointed out that the comprehensive resolution of these files will open the way for continued communication
and dialogue with various parties, including friendly nations, to reach understandings that preserve Iraq's sovereignty and national interests, and enhance its security and stability in the region. For his part, the British Ambassador affirmed his country's keenness to develop relations with
Iraq and support its security and stability. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination on issues of mutual concern between Baghdad and London.
