A new round of official talks was launched on Friday between the Iraqi and Turkish sides in the capital, Ankara, aiming to draft a framework agreement regulating bilateral cooperation in the energy sectors. The Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, headed
the Iraqi delegation participating in the expanded meeting, while the Turkish side was represented by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar. The meeting discussed studying the proposed roadmap to strengthen joint cooperation ties, which include updating and
developing infrastructure for the oil and gas sectors, as well as expanding investment prospects in the petrochemical industry and energy and hydrocarbon trade activities. This foundational meeting aims to lay the basic building blocks and build sustainable coordinating frameworks that
serve the common interests of the two neighboring countries and expand the circle of strategic partnership between them. The high-level Iraqi delegation accompanying the minister included the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Extraction Affairs, along with a number
of general managers of vital sectoral companies, including the oil marketing companies, North Oil Company, oil projects, and oil pipelines, in addition to officials of economic and legal departments and the petroleum contracts and licensing department.
