The parliamentary Legal Committee has confirmed a move to amend articles within the retirement law, including the legal retirement age. Committee member Ibtisam Hashim Al-Hilali stated that the Council of Representatives began efforts to amend the unified retirement law, responding
to retirees' demands and enhancing their rights. Al-Hilali clarified that MPs collected signatures to submit an official request to the Council's presidency for the amendment. This initiative aims to review several law articles to benefit the retired community. She indicated
that a key proposal is to adjust the legal retirement age to 63 years, from the current 60, mirroring past practices. She added that the Legal Committee and MPs would also review other articles within the law. Al-Hilali emphasized the
necessity for proposed amendments to consider retirees' conditions and needs, ensuring fairness. She confirmed the Council of Representatives will study and present necessary amendments to secure retirees' interests and preserve their rights.
