President Nizar Amedi confirmed Saturday that the state's arms monopoly file is a purely Iraqi decision, indicating no Iranian request for delay. Participating in the Eighth Baghdad Dialogue, Amedi emphasized that Iranian officials affirmed the arms containment decision rests solely
with Iraq. The President clarified that armed factions contributed to fighting ISIS and made sacrifices, stating the government now requests them to surrender weapons and integrate with security forces. Regarding the Peshmerga, Amedi noted they are a constitutional institution performing their role
in the Kurdistan Region, stressing they are not part of the arms monopoly file. He also emphasized that targeting the Kurdistan Region is "unjustified," explaining that regional security hinges on Iraq's stability. On governmental and economic matters, the President declared the
current government has begun "zeroing out all problems" and is progressing towards addressing the economic file.
