Informed sources indicate that Saudi Arabia has resumed operations in its vital East-West pipeline, with expectations that oil exports from the Red Sea port of Yanbu could recommence later on Tuesday. Two sources noted that oil pumping through the pipeline is
currently proceeding at low initial rates. Saudi state energy company Aramco was not immediately available for comment regarding these developments. Saudi Arabia was compelled to shut down the strategically important pipeline on September 13, following drone attacks that halted crude oil
loading at Yanbu port. The targeting of this pipeline, reportedly by a number of drones originating from Iraq, caused significant disruption to major crude transport routes within the Kingdom. The paramount importance of the East-West pipeline is particularly evident amidst current
regional shipping disruptions and tensions.
