The Supreme Judicial Council affirmed on Thursday the prohibition of using the title "Judge" for those holding positions or offices outside the Council's purview. This came during a session chaired by the Head of the Federal Court of Cassation, Judge Faiq
Zaidan. The session commenced with a eulogy for the late retired Deputy Public Prosecutor, Kareem Mowhi Jabr. It also covered the promotion of several judges, alongside decisions regarding transfers, secondments, judicial appointments, and the approval of formations within appellate presidencies,
all aimed at serving the public interest. The Council further addressed the use of the "Judge" title by those formerly in the judiciary who transitioned to legislative, executive, or other institutions separate from it. Citing Federal Supreme Court Decision No. (66/Federal/2021)
of September 29, 2021, which annulled Legislative Order No. (88) of 2004, the Council re-emphasized the inadmissibility of using the "Judge" title for anyone holding office outside the Supreme Judicial Council. Additionally, the Supreme Judicial Council instructed judges to foster cooperation
with the Bar Association for the smooth performance of their duties. Marking "Lawyer's Day," the Council decided to withdraw all official complaints it had filed against various lawyers.
