The U.S. Presidential Special Envoy to Iraq, Tom Barrack, revealed on Tuesday that an agreement has been reached to fully confine military power to the Iraqi state, setting the end of June 2027 as the final deadline to complete this
vital issue. Barrack affirmed in a statement to "The Monitor" upon leaving a meeting between Rubio and Zaidi, that official Iraqi institutions will be the sole entity authorized to possess military capabilities in the country. For his part, Zaidi clarified the
details of the proposed disarmament plan, indicating it commences with a preliminary phase lasting 90 days. During this preparatory period, factions pledge to cease offensive actions in exchange for guarantees against being targeted by American strikes. This will be followed
by a transition to the next stage, which involves the surrender of weapons and the termination of these factions' existence as independent armed entities.
