Home policy Transitional Phase Head: Continuous Improvement in Iraq Relations

Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, head of Syria's Transitional Phase, affirmed that relations with Iraq are witnessing continuous improvement. This came during a television interview, where al-Jolani revealed that Syria is holding discussions with the Lebanese government to find solutions that ensure its

stability and security, emphasizing that the solution is not necessarily limited to the security aspect but requires a comprehensive approach to the crisis. He expressed full support for the Lebanese state's monopoly on weapons and its decision-making regarding peace and

war. Al-Jolani ruled out any military intervention in Lebanon, warning that any chaos there would negatively impact Syria, and expressing concerns about the potential for the conflict in the region to widen. In another context, al-Jolani stated that the country avoids confrontation

with Israel due to a lack of interest in such actions, and seeks to reach a security agreement with international participation. He added that lifting economic sanctions would not achieve the desired effectiveness unless Syria is removed from the list

of state sponsors of terrorism. He also mentioned the formation of a committee addressing the file of missing persons, operating according to international standards and in cooperation with experienced countries, and that investigations are ongoing into the collision incident in Deir

Ezzor, considering the possibility of it being an accidental occurrence. Discussions with Russia regarding the future of its military bases in Syria have not concluded, and concerning the agreement with the Kurds, al-Jolani noted a slowdown in its implementation but affirmed

continued reliance on it.
