platform on Wednesday that, "as of August 5, forces have altered the course of 48 commercial vessels, disabled two, and boarded two others." This move follows the United States' announcement of reimposing a blockade on Iranian ports, effective July 14,
stemming from the collapse of a war-ending agreement between Washington and Tehran reached in June. Since July 8, the Gulf region has experienced successive periods of exchanged strikes between US and Iranian forces, interspersed with calm. US President Donald Trump
had previously announced his decision to cancel planned strikes on Iran on August 2, with the aim of creating an opportunity for negotiation and striking a deal. Trump threatened to resume strikes at any moment if diplomatic efforts fail.
