Nouri Al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, revealed on Wednesday attempts to ignite political tensions and disrupt the political scene in the country, emphasizing that the issue of weapon control must be handled away from any escalation or

confrontation. During a meeting with several political analysts and specialists, Al-Maliki pointed out that Iraq is going through a sensitive phase that requires high levels of wisdom and responsibility, affirming the continued support of the Coordination Framework for the

government to ensure the country’s stability and its higher interests. He stressed that turning the weapon control issue into a confrontation between the state and factions would be extremely dangerous, potentially threatening Iraq’s stability and opening the door for

divergent political stances. Al-Maliki added that any internal confrontation would be a loss for the entire country, not just for a specific party or component, noting that anyone who assumes the potential conflict would be solely among Shiite groups

is mistaken, as its repercussions would affect the state and society at large. He confirmed that neither the government nor the Coordination Framework will allow the country to slip into internal conflict, calling for the formulation of a clear

national and regional vision to prevent Iraq from facing risks and to preserve its security, sovereignty, and stability. He emphasized the urgency of completing the cabinet and resolving the issue of vacant ministries, noting that the Prime Minister is

eager to finalize this matter. Al-Maliki explained that the Coordination Framework stands alongside the government and supports its continuation, clarifying that having criticisms of government performance does not mean accepting a government change or overthrow, but rather addressing flaws

and correcting the course. He considered that the current priority is to maintain Iraq’s stability and prevent any internal or regional conflict from affecting its security, stressing that dialogue, understanding, and prioritizing national interests are the best ways to

overcome challenges and resolve contentious issues.
