Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed today, Friday, that the Strait of Hormuz is not closed to friendly countries, while noting that ships belonging to these countries are required to coordinate their transit with the Iranian military forces.

Araqchi said that "the most important problem in the talks lies in the contradictory messages we receive from the Americans through different positions," stressing that "Iran is not responsible for destabilizing security in the Strait of Hormuz."

He added that "Iran did not start this war, but is only defending itself, and has the full right to legitimate defense."

He explained that "the restrictions imposed in the Strait of Hormuz target Iran's enemies only, not friendly countries," indicating that "ships belonging to friendly countries and other countries are obliged to coordinate their passage with our military forces."

He continued: "Ships of friendly countries are required to coordinate with our naval forces only to avoid any obstacles and ensure safe passage," noting that: "A large number of ships were able during the past days to cross the Strait

of Hormuz with the help of our naval forces and we will continue this path."
