Political sources reported on Saturday that the Iraqi government conveyed a message to Washington, affirming its commitment to confining weapons under state authority. According to the sources, the message clarified that discussions regarding risks from armed groups in Iraq are
exaggerated, reiterating Baghdad's resolve to bring all arms under government control. The communication also informed the American side that implementing weapon confinement would require time. Meanwhile, Qassem al-Araji, the Prime Minister's National Security Advisor, confirmed last Friday that the committee tasked
with dialogue with armed factions continues its work and discussions on this vital issue. In an online post, al-Araji emphasized that the "Framework Committee" for these talks is pressing ahead, stating "matters are progressing well according to the timeline established
by the Iraqi government to finalize the weapon confinement process."
