EC President Shuts the Door on Lifting Sanctions: No Easing of Pressure Without Real Internal Reforms in Iran

 Ursula von der Leyen confirmed this Monday that the EU has no plans to ease economic pressure on Tehran in Q2 2026. During a press conference in Berlin, she described any talk of lifting human rights-related sanctions as "unrealistic" at this stage. The European official added that the international community awaits concrete evidence of a comprehensive political and social shift within Iran before initiating any talks to lift the economic embargo.
