Ursula von der Leyen confirmed this Monday that the EU has no plans to ease economic pressure on Tehran in Q2 2026. During a press conference in Berlin, she described any talk of lifting human rights-related sanctions as "unrealistic" at
this stage. The European official added that the international community awaits concrete evidence of a comprehensive political and social shift within Iran before initiating any talks to lift the economic embargo.
