The Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, Qasim al-Araji, on Friday refuted claims of a specific timeframe for the state's efforts to confine weapons, labeling recent social media reports on the issue as entirely baseless. In a statement, al-Araji clarified that
the weapons confinement committee, established by the Coordination Framework and directly supervised by the Prime Minister, operates without a set deadline for completing its mandate. He emphasized that any individual carrying illegal weapons, once the state fully controls all arms, will
be prosecuted under the law as an outlaw. Strict legal actions will be taken against violators, who will be treated akin to terrorists. Al-Araji concluded by urging accuracy and sourcing information from official channels, cautioning against the spread of rumors.
