Iraq's Federal Commission of Integrity announced on Thursday the recovery of $13 million in Iraqi funds previously held in French banks under judicial orders, confirming their return to the state treasury. The efforts of the Iraq Fund for the Recovery of
Stolen Assets culminated in this successful operation, which resulted from continuous follow-ups and procedures undertaken by the Fund in effective coordination and cooperation with relevant international and local parties. Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, Chairman of the Fund's Board of Directors, confirmed that
the recovered amount has been fully deposited into the accounts of the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, following the completion of all necessary procedures and direct coordination with the Arab Bank Switzerland. Al-Lami emphasized that this recovery represents a significant achievement added
to the Fund's record in tracking and retrieving Iraqi funds smuggled or held abroad. He reiterated the commitment to continue working and closely coordinating with all relevant authorities to reclaim more state-owned funds and assets and return them to the
public treasury. The success of this $13 million recovery operation reflects the effectiveness of the meetings and follow-ups conducted by the Fund's Chairman, who is also the head of the Federal Commission of Integrity. These efforts took place on the sidelines
of his participation in the government delegation accompanying Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi during his recent visit to the French Republic, as part of persistent endeavors to safeguard national funds and reclaim its financial rights from abroad.
