Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi chaired an extensive meeting on Monday at the Nineveh Governorate office, attended by the Governor of Nineveh, the head and members of the provincial council, a large number of deputies representing the governorate, and local
service and government officials. At the outset of the gathering, Al-Zaidi stressed that the government is moving forward with the implementation of its comprehensive development plans across all governorates, emphasizing that Nineveh deserves concerted efforts to elevate its living and
service conditions, while noting that doors remain open to monitor any shortcomings to ensure a future befitting the governorate and the depth of its history and rich civilizational heritage. He pointed out the importance of decisively confronting any instances of
corruption, safeguarding public funds, and countering attempts to distort the national identity by stirring division and fragmentation among the various components of the governorate. In a related context, reaffirmation was made of the government's absolute commitment to the path of
financial and administrative reform, which includes regulating foreign currency exchange rates, preventing speculative activities, and halting the economic leakage resulting from exchange rate disparities that speculators have long exploited for personal gains at the expense of the local economic cycle.
Al-Zaidi also addressed the details of the one-million-farm project plan, explaining that it will be distributed in the form of agricultural specializations suited to the nature of each governorate to develop local agricultural wealth, citing examples of designating certain regions
as capitals for specific crop production, alongside establishing food processing plants supplied by local agricultural outputs, in addition to the role this plan plays in providing wide-ranging job opportunities, increasing domestic production, and strengthening the pillars of food security.
