Maritime data reported Tuesday that a tanker loaded with Iraqi oil returned to the Gulf after reaching the Sea of Oman. CBS cited maritime data stating that a crude oil tanker carrying Iraqi oil turned back Monday off the southern coast of Oman, heading toward the Arabian Gulf, a day after Iran announced its transit through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Iranian authorities. Tracking data from MarineTraffic shows that the crude oil tanker "Agios Fanourios 1," flying the Maltese flag, suddenly turned off Ras al-Hadd in the Gulf of Oman Monday afternoon, then began moving slowly west back toward the Strait Tuesday afternoon. Iran said Monday the vessel coordinated with its authorities to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker's last visit was to Iraq's Basra port in late April, declaring Vietnam as its final destination.
