Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi inaugurated the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Saturday in Baghdad, affirming that Iraq’s historic capital will persistently remain an enduring hub for cultural dialogue, coexistence, and

fraternal solidarity among diverse nations. Addressing the opening session, Al-Zaidi emphasized the vital importance of facilitating global trade, safeguarding strategic international transport corridors, and maintaining the uninterrupted transit of commercial traffic across vital pathways, while warmly welcoming delegates to the

historic seat of knowledge, heritage, and civilization. The Prime Minister extended congratulations to the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation upon assuming his official duties, expressing sincere wishes for his leadership to foster impactful initiatives serving the collective interests

of the Islamic world. Al-Zaidi observed that Muslim nations currently navigate increasingly severe trials testing their capacity for internal cohesion and adaptation amid rapid economic, cultural, and communication shifts. He noted that prevailing regional and international crises demand broader multilateral

coordination to safeguard common interests and guarantee prosperity for upcoming generations. Highlighting economic integration, the Prime Minister detailed Iraq’s comprehensive regional initiative designed to interconnect energy networks, railway systems, transit routes, and telecommunications infrastructure, alongside modernizing digital payment frameworks, commercial

platforms, and industrial zone synergies. He emphasized that this strategic endeavor is tailored to solidify long-term security, shared prosperity, and enhanced resilience when confronting geopolitical shocks. Reaffirming Iraq’s steadfast stance, Al-Zaidi stressed that the Palestinian cause constitutes the cornerstone of

Middle Eastern stability, asserting that fulfilling the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people remains essential for establishing lasting peace. He described the organisation as an optimal platform for championing tolerance, moderation, and standing against hatred in defense of the oppressed.

Reflecting on Iraq's enduring challenges from regional warfare and severe economic repercussions, Al-Zaidi underscored mutual understanding and constructive engagement as foundational to Islamic unity. He concluded by commending Pakistan’s diplomatic dedication to de-escalating tensions, urging member nations to vigorously bolster

collective security and enduring peace across the region.
