The Suez Canal Authority announced the successful rescue and towing of the oil tanker "M/T ALYSSUM" after its main engines suffered a sudden failure off the coast of Alamein city in northern Egypt. The statement confirmed the tanker safely arrived

at the Port Said anchorage area for necessary maintenance and repairs. The towing operation was carried out by the authority's rescue tug "Mohamed Basheer" immediately after receiving a rapid response request from the navigation agency "Sphinx." The authority described the

operation as a special mission demonstrating the efficiency and expertise of its marine rescue teams, noting the towing distance covered 180 nautical miles and was completed successfully in record time. It also detailed that the tanker has a total cargo

capacity of 23,000 tons, with a length of 182.5 meters, a width of 43.5 meters, and a draft of 11.2 feet. The authority emphasized the readiness of its fleet to provide rescue services and handle emergencies inside and outside the

navigational channel, including maintenance, pollution control, and marine ambulance services, relying on its human resources and modern national units such as the marine crane "CC" with a lifting capacity of up to 2200 tons.
