Iran issued a strong warning to South Korea on Monday, stating that any military presence or participation by Seoul in operations within the Strait of Hormuz would be considered support for "U.S. aggression," an act that would incur severe consequences.

The warning came from Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, in statements published via the "X" platform. Baghaei emphasized the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, spanning over 64 years and characterized by continuous development based on mutual respect. He stressed

that Iran attaches great importance to its friendly ties with the Republic of Korea. These statements follow earlier South Korean reports, citing government and military sources, which indicated Seoul's readiness to deploy military assets to support freedom of navigation in the

Strait of Hormuz, aiming to complete the deployment before year-end. The reports also clarified that the government is finalizing legislative procedures for parliamentary approval, including submitting an approval request this month post-cabinet review. Seoul is considering options like sending a

maritime patrol aircraft, a logistics support vessel, or a mine detection and clearance unit. Discussions are ongoing with allied nations, including the United States, Britain, and France, regarding the potential contribution's size and nature.
