U.S. authorities are preparing to file charges against a military officer who allegedly made over a million dollars from bets related to American operations in Iran and Venezuela. The officer, initially unnamed but later identified as Ganon Caen Van Dyke,
has been under investigation since the spring. Investigators are examining the possibility that he illicitly used insider information, which enabled him to place successful bets on the "Polymarket" platform regarding potential U.S. military operations against Iran and Venezuela. Charges are
anticipated to be filed this upcoming fall. Concurrently, an investigation is underway in the United States involving an employee at the auditing firm KPMG, suspected of placing bets concerning the quarterly results of specific companies. These probes highlight an escalation
in U.S. authorities' efforts to combat misconduct on betting platforms. The aforementioned U.S. military officer was previously detained on charges of betting on a U.S. invasion of Venezuela and the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro. Van Dyke faces accusations of
unlawful use of classified government information for personal gain, theft of classified government information, fraud, and illegal financial transactions, potentially leading to a sentence of up to 60 years in prison.
