The Friday preacher in Najaf Ashraf, Sadr al-Din Al-Qabanji, emphasized that Iraq must safeguard its national interests without sacrificing them through alignment with Iran or the international community. During his sermon, he noted that the media controversy surrounding the Ja'fari
Personal Status Law, approved by the Iraqi Parliament, contrasts with statements from Al-Azhar's Grand Imam affirming that the Ja'fari school is the fifth Islamic school of thought, and that the Dar al-Ifta sometimes resorts to it to address family issues
threatened by dissolution. He added that this statement reflects the soundness and realism of the fatwas issued by the Ahl al-Bayt school. Regarding internal affairs, he highlighted the ongoing violations of Iraqi airspace by Israeli aircraft and refueling planes, observed
openly, calling for an official stance against these breaches of national sovereignty. On the regional front, he confirmed the existence of foreign pressures urging alignment with Iran, stressing that Iran remains present and that Iraq should not sacrifice its interests
by imposing sanctions or aligning against it, nor does it wish to oppose the international community. He explained that the recent quadrilateral meeting held in Tehran demonstrated that regional problems must be resolved internally, and that Iraq should be governed
by shared interests and unified identity, without sacrificing its national interests through sanctions on Iran or opposition to the international community. Additionally, he affirmed that Kuwait is a friendly country sharing identity, neighborhood, and common interests with Iraq, calling for
a review of wartime decisions against the Ja'fari school, referring to recent death sentences issued against religious scholars.
