Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi affirmed on Saturday the necessity of protecting women from assault and extortion, by solidifying a culture of respect for women and rejecting any violation of their rights. This came during his attendance at the 18th

Islamic Day Conference against Violence against Women, which was held in the capital Baghdad, organized by the National Wisdom Movement. Al-Zaydi announced proceeding with efforts to re-form and activate the Supreme Council for Women, with a new vision to achieve its

desired goals, making it a legal and executive umbrella supporting the advancement of Iraqi women's reality. He noted that the government program accorded women special care and appreciation, believing in their pivotal importance in achieving comprehensive development, highlighting their contributions

in confronting the challenges faced by Iraqis, especially in combating ISIS gangs that committed severe violence against women. The Prime Minister stressed that these challenges serve as an incentive to provide a safe environment that prevents any assault or belittling of

women, through deterrent measures and effective legislation. He emphasized that developing women's scientific and intellectual capabilities and enabling them to assume leadership positions is the most important element for upholding their rights. He concluded by expressing pride in the presence

of women in all constitutional state authorities today, reiterating that protecting women from assault and extortion is a shared responsibility among society, the government, and the state.
