The Council of Ministers issued a decision during its meeting held on Tuesday, exempting imported foodstuffs and medicines completely from customs duties. In a related context, the Media Office of the Prime Minister explained that this regulatory measure will officially
begin implementation starting from the date of October 7, 2026. This governmental direction comes as an extension of previous steps directed by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi a few days ago, which included postponing the collection of customs duties and taxes
imposed on imported poultry, meat, and egg products, following the decision to adjust the exchange rates of the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar.
