Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi affirmed, during a speech at the Sovereignty Day conference in the capital, Baghdad, that Iraq has entered a new phase centered on establishing the pillars of political, economic, and security sovereignty, while imposing the rule of
law across the country and ensuring that wealth remains in the hands of its citizens based on the constitution, pointing out that this step reflects the will of the people and their insistence on establishing the prestige of the state
and their inclusive national identity. Al-Zaidi indicated that the journey of past decades witnessed severe challenges and terrorism that allied with the forces of ruin, yet Iraqis were able to pass difficult tests to reach the present moment in which
they renew their commitment to protecting the system and closing the door for those who exploit the public interest for personal gains, stressing that governmental efforts to confront the scourge of corruption formed fundamental support for sovereignty by preventing violations
of public funds. In conclusion, the Prime Minister commended the positions of the factions that committed to addressing the weapons file within constitutional frameworks and government-set timetables, looking forward to the rest joining this path to serve the public interest
and enhance state prestige.
