Iran's Foreign Ministry, through spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, denied on Monday the validity of reports about alleged activities at the "Pickaxe Mountain" (Pikax Mountain) site. This denial came after former US President Donald Trump stated the United States was monitoring movements
there. At his weekly press conference, Baghaei called these statements part of "American media and psychological warfare." Trump had warned last week of potential strikes on "Pickaxe Mountain," urging Iran to exercise caution. The "Pickaxe Mountain" site is near Iran's Natanz uranium
enrichment facility, which previously sustained severe damage. It is a heavily fortified installation with two complexes of deeply buried tunnels, and Trump has threatened strikes against it since at least mid-July. Separately, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) previously reported observing
construction and activity at the Iranian "Pickaxe Mountain" site. Located south of the main Natanz uranium enrichment facility, approximately 220 kilometers south of Tehran, it is a highly fortified installation suspected of links to sensitive nuclear activities. IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi
told Bloomberg last Thursday that Agency inspectors haven't yet inspected the mountain's tunnel complex. However, satellite imagery showed indications of new movements and work at the site. Grossi noted the IAEA observed "some indications of activity around the construction site," stressing
a lack of confirmed information on the activities' nature. He also affirmed Iranian authorities previously announced plans to move some activities into tunnels and mountains for protection against attacks. Construction of this fortified site is believed to have started after another
Iranian centrifuge production facility suffered a sabotage attack about six years ago.
