Masoud Barzani, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, affirmed on Monday that the current situation in Sinjar will not endure, asserting the Yazidi community's eventual return to their homeland with dignity. In a statement, Barzani highlighted the crime committed by ISIS
terrorists twelve years ago against the Yazidis, noting it remains a deep wound in Kurdistan's memory. He clarified that Yazidis suffered genocide due to their Kurdish identity, heritage, and religious beliefs, targeted by ISIS's extreme hatred and inhumane acts. Barzani added
that ISIS's atrocities in Sinjar were part of a continuum of tragedies, massacres, and crimes against the people of Kurdistan throughout history. On this anniversary, the KDP leader reiterated full support for Yazidi aspirations and demands, urging them to unite and
solidify their ranks for a brighter future and to maintain hope. He emphasized that Sinjar's abnormal, forcibly imposed status will not last, stressing the necessity for Yazidis to return to their ancestral land with honor and receive compensation for their
suffering.
