Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during his participation in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia that his country has not yet received any official proposals regarding a political settlement in Ukraine, commenting on recent reports circulated
by Western media platforms regarding ongoing diplomatic moves. Lavrov explained in press statements responding to an inquiry from TASS agency about reports concerning Washington and European capitals preparing a new initiative, that Moscow follows what prominent newspapers such as the
Washington Post and New York Times publish based on anonymous sources, yet the Russian side remains untouched by any direct official proposals. The minister clarified that the content circulated through press leaks is limited to four main clauses, the last
of which focuses on an immediate ceasefire along the contact line, criticizing the absence of any real concepts ensuring sustainable and long-term peace in those proposals, and pointing out that Kiev and its European allies might exploit any potential truce.
Lavrov stressed that the nature of Western media has fundamentally come to rely on leaking news. In a related context, American newspapers had previously reported citing informed circles that the United States and the European Union are working on drafting
a joint settlement project offering security and financial gains and guarantees to both Moscow and Kiev, alongside charting a path to address territorial disputes, noting that these diplomatic efforts received new momentum following meetings hosted in Florida gathering representatives from
the concerned parties.
