Home policy Parliament Speaker: Oil Product Shortage Unacceptable in Iraq

Speaker of Parliament, Hebat Al-Halbousi, affirmed on Sunday that the severe shortage of petroleum products is an unacceptable issue, emphasizing that Iraq is a major oil-producing nation. This statement was made during a parliamentary session dedicated to discussing the fuel

crisis, where Al-Halbousi stressed the importance of clarifying the root causes of this escalating crisis, particularly given the clear deficit in produced gasoline quantities. This crisis has led to the formation of long queues of vehicles at fuel stations across

all Iraqi governorates. He also called for an urgent review of the Ministry of Oil's and refinery companies' plans to address the current crisis, in addition to examining their vision for developing the oil sector to efficiently meet the country's

needs. During the session, it was reported that the quantities delivered to all local refineries amount to 1.1 million barrels per day, intended for processing for domestic consumption.
