Ahmed Al-Haj Rashid, a member of the parliamentary Finance Committee, affirmed that the regularization of employment contracts and the granting of allowances and promotions are legitimate entitlements for employees. He called for these matters to be resolved swiftly, urging against
indefinite delays under the pretext of the financial situation. Rashid indicated that his committee is preparing to host the Minister of Finance to discuss several financial issues. He clarified that the upcoming meeting aims to delve into core topics including
the general budget, government revenues and expenditures, and tax matters. The discussions will also thoroughly address contract regularization, allowances, and promotions, with Rashid emphasizing that these issues represent key challenges requiring clarification and fundamental solutions. Regarding contract regularization, Rashid noted a
degree of public debate surrounding the issue, with opinions varying between those who confirm regularization and those who deny it. He stressed that the current discussions do not pertain to new appointments but rather to solidifying the status of existing
contractors. In this context, he mentioned that the Minister of Finance had previously pledged to instruct relevant ministries to calculate the financial costs associated with contract regularization, in preparation for a decisive resolution. Concerning allowances and promotions, Rashid explained that the
Minister of Finance, Faleh Al-Sari, had promised to find solutions for this matter, but implementation is contingent upon securing the necessary financial allocations. He reiterated that these rights are fundamental entitlements for employees and that the state should not link
their approval to prevailing economic conditions. The Finance Committee member emphasized the imperative of decisively addressing and resolving employee rights, whether for contractors awaiting regularization or for employees entitled to allowances and promotions. He reaffirmed that the financial circumstances should not
serve as an impediment to settling these vital issues. Rashid pointed out that monthly oil revenues flowing into the public treasury are not entirely sufficient to cover all accumulated financial commitments. This necessitates the development of sustainable financial solutions to address
all these files and safeguard the vocational entitlements of workers.
